The objective of the Ecostrimed Subject Network is the study of the ecological state of the rivers as to obtain useful instruments for the management to the local, regional and nacional organisations. It is also necessary that society understands the necessity of these instruments and there usefulness.  

                       

These objectives are summarised in a series of activites which are carried out, which include:

1) The production of findings of the group members for the interchange of results and experiences and, also, to coordinate their activities.

2) The completion of continual training courses for its members.  Where the respective knowledge of  the studies carried out by each one of the groups is also included. 

 

3) The implementation of new work tools for all the groups so that the field and lab work is simplified.

4)  The production of databases that serve as a guide to follow the tendencies of change of the ecological quality of the Mediterranean rivers.

5) The production of work manuals, in printed or digital form, that serve for the standardisation of the way the members of the Network carry out their work.

6) National and international broadcast of the studies produced by the Network, above all by means of the web page and participation in conferences and other findings.

7) The transfer of scientific information, results of investigations and management instruments towards public management and specialist companies in studies of ecological quality in rivers, to ensure that the methods that they are using in their management are scientifically valid.

8) The transfer of scientific information and work tools to the general public to improve their knowledge of the envirnoment and so that they are useful in realtion to administration.  Especially in the processes of public participation predicted in the different laws and above all in the Water Framework Directive.
